I am a Psychotherapist and a Behaviour Change Expert

specialising in Addiction and Relationships.

I work with Individuals of all ages, couples, families and groups to help them uncover their truth, to take ownership of the present and connect to their future self.

I’ve had a broad and rich experience of life so far as a former footballer of two Premier League clubs and an international DJ who featured on a seminal underground pirate radio station for 10 years. I was also an infamous graffiti writer and Teacher of Design & Technology too. 

All of which gave birth to a spectrum of emotions as you can imagine where by the time I was in my mid 20’s, I was introduced to the concept of therapy through my own need for stability.

Feeling lost, broken down and destitute. I battled with addiction, toxic relationships and childhood trauma and suffered terribly with anxiety, panic attacks and depression. In urgent need of emotional, psychological and spiritual repair, I knew something needed to happen. And it did…

So fast forward to the present, I am now aged 46 where over the last 20 years a lot has changed because a lot had to. My journey of self-exploration has opened my eyes to worlds and communities where what I observed was so profound, that it literally changed my life overnight.

I came to understand the power of Thought and the role it plays in preserving my wellness. I realised that the deeper I looked within, the more conscious I became where consequently, the more obvious everything was!

This ‘understanding’ has been the bedrock of my life since and  influences literally everything I do from parenting to exercising and the reason why I would like to now share it with you too…

Not only has it been a catalyst for me to leave the classroom (in the traditional sense), it has also been the incentive for me to train as a therapist and what has subsequently led me to establish my own private practice, Thought Based Therapy.

Today, I am someone who is inspired by honesty, freedom and choice and also, by creativity, expression and opportunity as it is these very elements in which my therapy is seeded.

I appreciate that you are considering working with me so let me share with you, more about my approach as my purpose is simple, to ‘give back’, as fundamentally, I believe that this is how we create a life, by what we can give.

 

 


So what is a

‘Thought Based’ approach?

In essence, it is a conscious union of psycho-social education and an integrative therapeutic offering that stems from the very nature of Thought to highlight the role it plays in preserving our emotional stability, our psychological freedom and our spiritual wellness. 

With an emphasis on ‘seeing’, the programme enables a person to recognise their truth, their future and everything they are NOT.

We promote insightful, empowering and sustainable ways to live which are responsive yet sensitive to our internal and external environments via a gentle exploration of self.

 By addressing three core elements; our Awareness, our Ability and our Autonomy over an initial 12 week period, we provide people with the space, time and support to grow by nurturing and cultivating character and authenticity while all the time, harnessing creativity and flexibility.

 In doing so, individuals able to explore their health, work, relationships and living conditions to bring about the much needed change in one or more of these areas with ease.

 We uphold that as human beings, we are powerful (by design) and are not powerless, that we all have an incredible innate capacity for change and that we are all individuals and as such, should not be limited, labelled or defined as an addict or any such term.

 With consideration, we teach people about a subject they are already an expert on- themselves, to consistently be able to be that version of themselves they have always been destined to be.

Our therapy is integrative, which means is that we are open to work with individuals in whichever way, shape or form they present to accept, do and discover a way forward that works for them via one-to-one’s, groups, intensives, workshops, webinars and retreats. 

 We help people to believe they can live a better life by having the courage to gently explore ingrained systems of beliefs by understanding the power of Thought and the role it plays in preserving our wellness. 

Favouring a warm, person-centered and solution-focused approach to therapy, we uphold that every person has the innate capacity to thrive and by accessing the trinity of thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

From the first session, we create a safe space for people to establish their aspirations, their purpose and their passions to identify where their issues lay to respectfully challenge their fears to notice how and where they can make healthier choices that are right for them.

In concluding work with us, clients report to having increased levels of confidence and a higher degree of autonomy which lead to them being more resilient and having a  better sense of identity, meaning and belonging.
